The climate scientist professor explained: Solar flares have decreased, severe cold has increased
DEU Institute of Marine Sciences and Technology faculty member, climate scientist Prof. Dr. Dogan YaÅŸar drew attention to the decline in solar flares. YaÅŸar also stated that there has been a global cooling due to the decrease in solar flares and that the glaciers have returned to their width in 2008.
Showing the latest status on the graph, Prof. Dr. YaÅŸar said that the coldest day of the last 82 years has been experienced in Izmir with minus 4 degrees. It is a very cold March, Prof. Dr. Dogan YaÅŸar said, "It is one of the harshest March months ever experienced. March March temperature in Izmir, for example, set a record with minus 3.8 degrees on March 4, 1940. According to meteorological data, the previous day (Sunday), the temperature measurement in the Konak district was found to be minus 4 degrees," he said.
"THE IMPACT OF DROUGHT IS OBVIOUS"
Stating that Turkey has experienced its coldest times in the last 70 years, Prof. Dr. Dogan YaÅŸar,"Turkey experienced its coldest periods in 1972, 1992 and 2008. The coldest year was 1992. The winter air temperature was 3 degrees below average. Then comes 1992 and 2008. in dec972, there were water disputes between villages in Turkey. in 1992, due to the drought, we received electric power from Bulgaria for the first time, and the dams were empty. When the dams emptied, everyone attacked oil and coal. As Turkey, we provide 26 percent of the energy from HPPs. It is obvious how much the drought has affected,"he said.
"THE EFFECT OF SOLAR FLARES"
Explaining the reason for the cooling of the air, Prof. Dr. Dogan YaÅŸar,"The more explosions in the sun, the more the spatial size of these explosions, the more energy we receive and heat up. The more we warm up, the more it rains. With every 1 degree of temperature increase, precipitation increases by about 2 percent. In other words, the phrase 'global temperature brings global drought' is not even a superstition. During the years when the coldest periods occurred in Turkey and around the world; solar flares decreased. since the 2020s, solar flares have dropped to a minimum. The last time this happened was in 2008. what happened in 2008? There has been a severe cold and drought in the world. There has been an economic crisis throughout the world. The same thing happened today. In fact, we are going through a tougher one right now," he said.
EMPHASIS ON THE ENERGY DEFICIT
"in 2008, the population was 70 million, and now it is 85 million. So many people need food, water and energy. Therefore, much more precipitation and energy are needed. Because there is a cooling, there is a drought. We also provide 1 in 4 of our energy, which is 26 percent of our energy, from dams. This is a serious figure. We have to close our energy deficit with coal and natural gas until the dams are empty and 10 percent. It is in all the world. in 1.5 years, the G20 countries have invested $ 658 billion in energy. Of this, $ 300 billion was made on coal. Because the whole world is prepared for this situation."
THE EXAMPLE OF CRIMEA
Emphasizing the importance of water, Prof. Dr. Dogan YaÅŸar gave an example of Russia's attack on Ukraine. It is worth noting that the Dnieper River, which irrigates part of the territory of Russia and Ukraine, Prof. Dr. Yasar said, "Russia has opened incredible water channels on the Dnieper since the 1961s. Because the Crimea needed to be watered. After Russia annexed Crimea, Ukraine put embankments in front of these channels. It prevented the flow of water to the Crimea. Water did not come to the agricultural area of about 140 thousand hectares. Russia immediately turned to underground sources, but it was also over. When the invasion began, Russia first hit those embankments," he said.
A CALL TO THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE
Explaining what is needed to ensure that Turkey does not experience water shortages, Prof. Dr. Dogan YaÅŸar said, "We should bring water from the dams in a closed environment and give it to the fields now. The state should determine agricultural products. All agricultural areas should be designated as catchment areas. Which product will be sold where and what, the Ministry of Agriculture should check them all," he said.
