AKP President and President Erdogan, who made statements at the memorial service, began his speech by commemorating the Dardanelles Victory and the Dardanelles martyrs.
The headlines that stand out from Erdogan's statements are as follows:
"It is the 107th anniversary of our Çanakkale Naval Victory, which is one of the most glorious pages of our history. I wish you a happy anniversary. A nation in love with independence changed the course of history here 107 years ago. The Dardanelles Wars are a great heroic epic in which the high virtues of our nation, such as sacrifice and patriotism, are exhibited. The most powerful armies in the world are frustrated. It has been seen that there is no force that can stand up to a nation that is determined to protect its homeland at the cost of its life."
"The Turkish nation has been a hope for all the oppressed with its unique struggle. The Victory of the Dardanelles on March 18 is a common victory not only for us, but also for hundreds of millions of our brothers and sisters from the Balkans to Africa, from Europe to Asia. This glorious victory is the victory of Turkey and the Turkish nation, as well as the oppressed peoples who have turned their eyes and hearts to our country."
"Not only heroes from every province, district and almost every village of Turkey have graves here. There are also graves of martyrs who came from all over our geography of hearts and fell to the ground here."
"I think that there are very great lessons that every son of the motherland will draw from the martyrdom here. Everywhere I go, every time I meet young people, I tell them about the Dardanelles saga, I tell them that they should definitely see this place. I remember all our heroes with mercy, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal."
